COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The South Carolina Department of Public Health has confirmed three animals have tested positive for rabies.

The animals were a kitten in Greenville, a raccoon in Anderson, and a fox in Kershaw County.

The three rabies-positive animals were submitted to DPH’s laboratory for testing on Tuesday and were confirmed to have rabies on Wednesday.

If you or any of your pets may have come into contact with these animals, please call DPH’s 24-hour rabies reporting line at 888-847-0902.

“If you see an animal in need, avoid touching it and contact someone trained in handling animals, such as your local animal control officer, wildlife control operator, or wildlife rehabilitator,” said DPH Rabies Program Manager Terri McCollister.
