ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Certain Rochester residents who rely on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits now have more options when it comes to eating hot, prepared meals.

Through New York State’s Restaurant Meals Program, SNAP beneficiaries who are over 60, experiencing homelessness, or living with a disability, along with their spouses, can now use their benefits to purchase hot meals at seven local restaurants. Eligible beneficiaries also receive a 10% discount when using SNAP.

“This program is designed to serve SNAP recipients who may not have access to food preparation or storage resources or may be unable to prepare meals for themselves,” said Suzan Zimet, New York’s Food and Anti-Hunger Policy Coordinator.
