TROUP, Texas — An East Texas handyman is behind bars for allegedly stealing jewelry from a client's home.
Christopher McDowell, 53, was arrested by the Troup Police Department Wednesday night.
According to a news release from the Smith County Sheriff's Office, the client became suspicious of McDowell after she discovered several items missing from her jewelry box.
"On one occasion, he had gone into her bedroom and stayed an unusual length of time," the news release from SCSO said. "Several days later, the reporting person checked her jewelry box and noticed the items were missing."
A Smith County investigator took on the case and was able to locate the majority of the stolen jewelry, the release stated.
