GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Authorities responded to a high school in Gainesville on Thursday after receiving a report of a student with a gun in a classroom; however, no threat was found.

School district officials confirm students were secured in their classrooms as Gainesville Police Department officers searched the school. Parents were notified of the incident.

No gun was found during the search. Officers consider the report unfounded.

Once the school was deemed safe, school officials dismissed students in a controlled release.
