Five Sarasota County School District employees are having their social media comments investigated regarding the killing of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk.
Kirk, a 31-year-old conservative activist and co-founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot during a 3,000-person event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Officers have since arrested Tyler Robinson , 22, in connection with the shooting.
Sarasota joins several other Florida districts — including Pinellas, Polk, Clay, Lee, Osceola and Martin — that are reviewing similar comments made by educators. Nationwide, dozens of public and private-sector employees have been disciplined , suspended or terminated over online remarks about Kirk’s death.
