KENNER, La. —

A LaPlace man has received a life sentence after he admitted to killing a young restaurant manager nine years ago.

Joshua Every changed his not guilty plea to multiple charges in exchange for a life in prison sentence in connection with the murder of Taylor Friloux. Advertisement

Every could have faced a death sentence had his case gone to trial, which was scheduled for Oct. 14.

Every was arrested after a robbery and stabbing Friloux at the restaurant in 2016.

The 21-year-old was found bleeding on the floor after she was stabbed multiple times in the head, neck and chest, investigators said.

Every was identified as Friloux's assailant, investigators said. He was an employee of the restaurant and knew the victim.
