SOLON, Iowa (KCRG) - A traveling memorial for those who died in the Global War on Terror arrived in Solon Thursday morning.
The Wall of Remembrance honors around 10,000 people, including nearly 100 Iowans.
Mike Kessler, 1st Vice Commander with the Solon American Legion worked six months to organize the stop.
“It means so much to a lot of us, all of us,” says Kessler. “These names gave their lives for you.”
The GWOT Wall of Remembrance is the only traveling Memorial Wall paying tribute to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice from the bombing of the Marine Barracks in Beirut, Lebanon through the withdrawal of forces from Afghanistan in 2021. It includes not only members on the military, but first responders and civilians.
