A rescue sheep has learned to walk again – thanks to a special wheelchair.
Dave, a sixâyearâold ram at Albert’s Horse Sanctuary in Barnsley, was rescued from slaughter as a lamb along with three companions, Summer, Princess and Derek.
But earlier this year he was found cast – a condition where a sheep falls onto its back and cannot right itself, often fatal within hours.
He spent months spent unable to stand, and for weeks sanctuary volunteers lifted him daily, nursed pressure sores and ensured he never gave up the fight.
Their efforts were given a crucial boost when Winston’s Wheels, a mobility charity, donated a custom wheelchair to help Dave regain strength.
