EVERETT — The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an assault that shut down U.S. 2 on Wednesday in Sultan.

On Wednesday afternoon, deputies responded to reports of an assault with a weapon, a Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office social media post said. Upon arrival, deputies found a man who had been shot in the leg. The suspect fled the scene.

Law enforcement shut down east and westbound lanes from Sultan Basin Road to the roundabout on U.S. 2 near 339th Avenue Southeast due to the assault, the post said.

First responders transported the victim to a hospital for undisclosed injuries.

Around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, law enforcement arrested the suspect in King County, according to the social media post. No other details were immediately available.
