BOSTON —

The world's best competitive cliff divers are making a dramatic return to Boston this weekend, jumping from heights of up to 90 feet for the annual visit of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series.

The competition takes place in the Seaport on Friday, Sept. 19, and Saturday, Sept. 20, in Boston Harbor.

Twelve of the world’s best male and female divers will leap from platforms atop the Institute of Contemporary Art.

The men will jump from 88.5 feet while the women will jump from 69 feet, with each diver performing a minimum of four different takeoff directions.

Judges score the divers on their acrobatic skills and artistic expression.

The winner will receive the King Kahekili Trophy, which returns to the U.S. for the first time since 2010.

The free event is open to the public
