Enrique Tarrio, the former leader of the far-right Proud Boys, said that he has helped launch an “extremely effective” campaign to fire people celebrating the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk .
But there’s a caveat.
While speaking to The Atlantic, Tarrio said he has activated members of the militant network to find posts on social media, identify the individual and persuade their employers to terminate them. He acknowledged that the effort is “funny,” saying that “this was a tactic that was used on us from 2017 forward.”
“We got deplatformed, debanked. It sucked for us,” Tarrio said in an interview released Wednesday. “I always said I wouldn’t do it back to anybody. But since then, I’ve been incarcerated for something I didn’t do.”
