The Marshall Area Economic Development Alliance is celebrating the start of improvements to the local wastewater treatment plant.

The upgrades are designed to handle increased sanitary flow from Ford’s BlueOval Battery Park Michigan and future businesses at the Marshall Area Jobs, Opportunity and Recreation Campus, according to a community announcement.

Marguerite Davenport, director of Public Services for the city of Marshall said in the announcement that the city of Marshall recently broke ground on a new state-of-the-art headworks building at the wastewater treatment facility.

The building will remove grit, sand and oil during the preliminary stage of the wastewater treatment process. It also will help handle increased sanitary sewer flows from new residential and industrial develo
