Why did ‘South Park’ delay new episode at the last second?

There was supposed to be a new episode of “South Park” on Wednesday, Sept. 17, but the show’s creators announced a delay at the last minute.

“Apparently when you do everything at the last minute sometimes you don’t get it done. This one’s on us. We didn’t get it done in time. Thanks to Comedy Central and South Park fans for being so understanding. Tune in next week,” Trey Parker and Matt Stone wrote in a statement shared via X on Wednesday.

Season 27 of “South Park” premiered in July, but only four episodes have aired thus far due to the adult cartoon’s new biweekly release schedule . This week’s delayed episode was highly anticipated, as it was the first one scheduled since the fatal shooting of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
