SPOKANE, Wash. – A man was doused in gasoline and set on fire near the Browne Street viaduct on Wednesday afternoon, witnesses told the Spokane Police Department.

SPD said in a press release they located a man with significant burn injuries just before 3:00 p.m. He was transported to a local hospital before being flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The suspect is described as a man wearing baggy jeans and no shirt, possibly carrying a tan backpack, SPD said.

SPD said preliminary information suggests that the two men involved knew each other and the attack was not random. There is no public safety threat at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
