LONDON - President Trump suggested at a press conference with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer that he'd like the U.S. to retake the Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, five years after he directed troops to pull out of the region.

The base was abandoned in 2021 when all remaining U.S. troops left the country.

President Trump signed a peace agreement with the Taliban in February 2020 which outlined the terms for the U.S. withdrawing all troops and entering into a permanent ceasefire.
