LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — The former family medicine doctor with CHI Health in Lincoln accused of distributing child pornography entered his plea on Wednesday.

Jacob Smith, 34, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography in federal court. He faces a maximum of 40 years in federal prison.

There is no parole in the federal justice system.

Smith will be sentenced on Dec. 18 at 11 a.m.

Federal prosecutors charged Smith back in February. The complaint in the case has been sealed, but a hearing shed light on the specifics detailed in the complaint. The government alleged Smith spoke with an undercover agent some time in recent months.
