Police say they've found the body of a University of Houston student in the Brays Bayou after she was reported missing last weekend.

Jade McKissic, 20, was found in the bayou, near Texas Spur 5 and the university's College of Medicine building, according to the Houston Police Department.

The Harris County medical examiner's office reported that McKissic was found Monday morning. Investigators have not determined her cause of death.

In an email to students that was shared with Houston Public Media , Vice President for Student Affairs Paul Kittle described McKissic as a campus resident, student employee and “friend to many in our community.” He also said counseling resources were being offered to students.
