ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — A three-month-old infant died on Thursday after being rushed to the hospital with severe injuries earlier this week, according to Albuquerque Police Department. The parents are facing child abuse charges, with the father making his first appearance in court earlier on Thursday.

The infant has been identified as Mika Castillo, born in July of 2025. The parents, Johnathan Castillo and Jessica Brusuelas, have been arrested. Court documents said the infant suffered a fractured skull, multiple brain hemorrhages, and severe bruising. Police said the injuries are consistent with ongoing abuse. Bruselas claimed that Castillo often used drugs and would also hit their four-year-old and herself.
