DC Comics is having a banner year. Beginning last year, the brand new Absolute imprint , which rebooted the characters in grittier, darker, and totally different ways, proved a massive hit. The initiative began with Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta’s Absolute Batman #1 and went on to feature ongoing titles of all the major DC heroes. Each of those #1s sold well into the hundreds of thousands and have continued to clean up in 2025. For much of the year, as well, Batman #158 sat high atop the single-issue sales charts. That issue saw DC chief Jim Lee return to drawing duties for a sequel to his and Jeph Loeb’s landmark Hush saga.

But now, as we saw in The Hollywood Reporter , DC’s brand-brand new Batman #1 has crossed the 500,000 issue mark. This overtakes #158 and is unlikely
