LINCOLN, Maine — A school board meeting in Lincoln on Wednesday night turned chaotic with shouting, insults, and even a cellphone getting knocked from someone's hand.

The meeting began calmly, with residents voicing concerns about a teacher placed on leave and under investigation for allegedly making a comment about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

But that civility quickly disappeared once Tim Bodnar, a conservative activist, stepped up to speak.

"Unacceptable," Bodnar said, raising his voice while talking about the teacher under investigation.

His remarks resulted in the board calling its first recess of the night.
