AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Valerie Kiper Memorial ALS Golf Tournament is set to take place on Oct. 13 and looks to honor the legacy of Dr. Valerie Kiper.
Tournament organizers said they are looking to honor Kiper's legacy and benefit the Team Gleason Foundation and WTAMU Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Kiper was diagnosed with ALS in 2020.
Kiper was the founder of the Panhandle Great 25 Nurses, regional dean of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing in Amarillo and was the 2023 Local Remarkable Woman of the Year. Kiper died in April at the age of 67.
The tournament will be hosted on Oct. 13 at the Ross Rogers Golf Course. Officials said it is a four-person scramble with 72 teams; registration starts at 10:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 12 p.m. The tourname
