FARWELL, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Today, Lowe’s Market announced that its store will close its Farwell location on Oct. 4 after 28 years in business.

According to Lowe's Market officials, the closure stems from declining sales, economic challenges, and increased competition.

“This decision was not made lightly and follows an extensive review of the store’s financial viability,” said Ronnie Rogers, president of Lowe’s Market. “We are incredibly grateful for the loyalty and support our customers have shown over the years.”

Employees will receive severance packages, and the company said it is working to ensure a smooth transition for both staff and customers.

The store said will begin reducing its inventory on Sept. 29 ahead of the closure.
