The Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) have offered the River Institute a $435,829 boost, to help the research agency with a few key projects.

Minister Todd McCarthy was in Cornwall on Thursday to make the announcement alongside MPP for Stormont—Dundas—South Glengarry Nolan Quinn, River Institute executive director Jeff Ridal, and Mayor Justin Towndale.

Quinn kicked off the announcement expressing his family’s fondness for the recreational activities along the St. Lawrence River, and praising the River Institute for its work in environmental stewardship.

Quinn then introduced McCarthy.
