Brockville on Thursday joined a quiet but mighty global movement inspiring people to work for peace.
The city’s two Rotary clubs presided over a ceremony dedicating the city’s Peace Pole in Reynolds Park, the latest among hundreds of thousands of such monuments around the world in a movement spearheaded by Rotarians.

The Rotary club of the Thousand Islands and the Rotary Club of Brockville worked to have the Peace Pole erected in the riverside park, in a prominent spot along the Brock Trail.
Peace Poles carry the message ‘May Peace Prevail On Earth’ in different languages. The Brockville Peace Pole features the phrase in English, French, Anishinaabemowin and Kanienʼkéha, a Haudenosaunee language, to reflect the land where the pole is planted.
