NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A fairly quiet stretch of weather will continue into the weekend. With weak high pressure nearby, rain chances remain on the low side and most spots will stay dry. Temperatures will run a little above average for late September, with warm afternoons and mild nights. A stray shower or two isn’t impossible, especially closer to the coast, but overall coverage looks limited through Saturday and Sunday.

As we move into early next week, the overall pattern begins to shift. The weak upper-level ridge that has been in place will gradually fade, and by the middle of the week, a stronger trough is expected to dive into the Central Plains.
