NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Tropical Storm Gabrielle continues moving across the tropical Atlantic with "little change," but in a matter of days that's expected to not be the case.

Gabrielle is currently 700-miles ENE of the Northern Leeward Islands with maximum sustained winds of 50-mph and tropical-storm-force winds that extend outward up to 290-miles from the center as it moves west-northwestward at about 13-mph.

The tropical storm is expected to continue in that direction over the next few days before turning northwestward this weekend.

The National Hurricane Center says that "little change in strength is forecast over the next 24-hours, but some gradual intensification is forecast shortly thereafter" with Tropical Storm Gabrielle becoming a hurricane late weekend or early next week.
