FAIRFIELD -- A young Fairfield family says they're being treated unfairly by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.

According to Paigan and Benjamin Easler, it started in August of 2023, the day their son Parker was born.

They say DHHS arrived that morning without explanation, telling them the two needed to be drug tested.

"They asked, 'Why do you think we're here?' And I said, 'Don't really know why.' Didn't really get told why," said Benjamin.

They say their tests came back with only the drugs that were administered to Paigan during childbirth and marijuana in Benjamin's system. Benjamin said the DHHS worker told him marijuana was not the drug they were looking for.
