Hot, quiet weather gave way to another round of afternoon storms, but this time a lot more widespread. Areas that haven't seen rain in the past two weeks got it this evening. In some areas, rainfall amounts doubled totals that we've seen for the past two months!
The storms did come with some danger, though, with a few producing damaging winds and hail.
Heading into the evening, rain and thunder will continue to spread east, ending from west to east through late evening. The risk for severe weather will quickly fade by sunset, but heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning can be expected with heavier storms.
By morning, showers will have mostly tapered off. Areas that clear out by morning could also have some areas of fog.
