MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The death of a Delta State University (DSU) student found Monday, Sept. 15, has been ruled a suicide, a medical examiner said.

According to DSU officials, university police and local authorities were immediately notified after staff found the body hanging from a tree near the campus pickleball courts at around 7 a.m. Classes were canceled for the day.

"At this time, we have no further details to share. Out of respect for the individual and their loved ones, we will refrain from additional comment until authorities release more information," said a statement from DSU. "Our community is deeply saddened by this loss. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends impacted."
