The Dallas City operating and capital budget for fiscal year 2025-26 is a done deal.

That does not, however, mean everyone is happy with the whopping $5.2 billion package that includes more for police and safety and less for some city services.

The budget is the largest in the city’s history.

For months, NBC 5 has highlighted multiple proposals being considered by city leaders.

It all culminated on Wednesday when the Dallas City Council began final discussions at 9 a.m. and approved a new budget just after 1:30 a.m. on Thursday with 11 members voting in favor, 3 opposed, and one abstention.

Councilmember Lorie Blair was the absent vote. NBC 5 has reached out to Blair and her office for comment.
