Australians are being warned of potential injuries as a common kitchen product is pulled from Kmart and Target shelves across the country.

A portable blender sold at Kmart and Target has been recalled due to the potential of the products to “self-activate” in water.

The consumer watchdog said there was a risk of serious injury to owners of the blenders, “including laceration from the exposed blades”, and that some injuries have already occurred.

Those who own one of the white, blue, green or lilac portable blenders sold at Kmart and Target online and in stores, have been told to stop using the product immediately
