NEW ORLEANS — At 31-years-old, Kendall Harrison is trying to adjust to an entirely new world.
“I’m still learning how to use my phone,” said Harrison. “That’s the hardest take for me right now, messing with this phone”
Last week, Sept. 11th, the New Orleans native became a free man after spending more than 13 years behind bars.
“I’ve been incarcerated over 5,000 days. That’s a lot of days. Five thousand days to be locked in a cell,” said Harrison.
That cell is a place where an Orleans Parish jury unanimously decided he never should have been.
“It’s like you’ve been broken free of them chains. It’s a relief,” said Harrison.
In 2012, at 17-years-old, Harrison was accused of carjacking a woman in Algiers and then killing a man who tried to help her. The high-profile case became known as
