KILLEEN, Texas — The City of Killeen recognized a long-time pillar of the community this week.
During a City Council meeting on Sept. 16, Councilwoman Nina Cobb presented the Star Award to Sherry Kelley, recognizing her for her long service to the Killeen community.
According to the City, Kelley has spent more than five decades "uplifting those around her through compassion, service and faith."
"Whether providing food, school supplies or a listening ear, she has been a constant source of support for Killeen residents," the City said of Kelley.
Kelley has reportedly been involved with initiatives like Keep Killeen Beautiful and community events like National Night Out, helping to "strengthen connections while working toward a thriving environment for all," the City said.
