TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Four dogs rescued from a Smith County dog fighting ring are still looking for a love that has, so far, walked right past them.
Sixty dogs were rescued from a dog fighting ring in September of last year, but Smith County Animal Control euthanized the last 10 they had in their care in February.
Four of the former bait dogs, those used as targets for other dogs, await their happily-ever-after at Nicholas Pet Haven.
This includes 3-year-old Marcus, who was left without a nose from his injuries.
“Marcus, he’s super playful. He loves all the other dogs, and he never stops wagging his tail,” Nathan Roman, the shelter coordinator said. “It doesn’t affect him eating or anything. He still scarfs his food down. But, yeah, he’s super tired of being here at the shelter.”
