ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – KRQE News 13 is getting a look at the new addition to a school on Albuquerque's west side. Albuquerque Public Schools held a grand opening Thursday evening at Sierra Vista Elementary School, showing off its new two-story classroom addition. The building has 24 classrooms, a circulation pattern and access road, and new landscaping.
Sierra Elementary opened back in 1966, and APS said it was due for an upgrade. "The classrooms are all new, modern classrooms that will be flexible for changing technology and will really work well for the district and students going forward," said Erik Mease, SMPC Architects.
The project costs $22 million to complete.
