A surge of moisture will bring rain and thunderstorm chances back to nearly all of New Mexico Friday. The heaviest rain will fall in western, southern, and central parts of the state.

Thunderstorms Thursday afternoon stayed mainly in southern New Mexico with drier air in the northern half of the state. Storms over the Ruidoso area burn scars caused flash flooding Thursday afternoon. Temperatures were slightly cooler today across most of the state thanks to a weak cold front. The biggest drop in temperatures was in eastern New Mexico. Most of the rrain and storms have ended tonight. A few showers and storms will stick around far south-central New Mexico into early Friday morning as parts of northwest New Mexico may wake up to light rain.
