Eduardo Machado's attorney asked a Volusia County judge on Thursday to prohibit the release of Machado's confession to the public by the sheriff's office or any law enforcement agency, and the judge agreed, provided Machado's attorney can prove it was a confession and not just a statement.
On Tuesday, Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood said Machado confessed to killing David Jewell, stating that Machado told deputies he had seen Jewell multiple times at the store and believed he had gotten into an argument with Jewell in the past.
"He also talks about and tells Detective McGuire that he thought earlier in the day of killing and shooting Officer Jewell, and he was having a bad day," Chitwood said.
