PEORIA ( 25News Now ) The nation is reacting to the indefinite suspension of Late Night Talk Show host Jimmy Kimmel, following his controversial comments about Charlie Kirk’s killer, including those in Central Illinois.

25News asked local law experts whether the cancellation of Kimmel’s show infringed on his First Amendment rights.

It was Monday night when Kimmel made comments regarding the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, leading ABC to suspend the late-night show indefinitely .

Local law experts said media companies do have the right to suspend or fire him, as the First Amendment only protects citizens against government and state intrusion into speech.
