The doctor who helped uncover Erin Patterson’s role in a deadly mushroom lunch has been sanctioned by Australia’s medical regulator after describing the convicted murderer in searing terms during a string of interviews.

Dr Chris Webster, a long-time GP in Leongatha, treated Patterson when she turned up at hospital two days after serving the meal that killed three of her relatives.

He would go on to become a central witness during her lengthy trial in Melbourne, where Patterson was found guilty of murdering Don and Gail Patterson, along with Gail’s sister Heather Wilkinson. Pastor Ian Wilkinson, Heather’s husband, was the sole survivor.
