A bus driver involved in a triple-fatal collision in North Queensland has pleaded not guilty to a dangerous driving charge.

Peter Jason Cafe was behind the wheel of a Greyhound bus, travelling from Brisbane to Cairns in June last year, when it collided with a car towing a caravan on the Bruce Highway at Gumlu.

Two German women, aged 21 and 33, and a 56-year-old Townsville woman died in the collision.

The court heard Mr Cafe's dangerous driving charge also related to the alleged grievous bodily harm of two other men involved in the crash.

On Friday, Mr Cafe appeared in the Townsville District Court where he pleaded not guilty to one count of dangerously operating a vehicle causing death or grievous bodily harm.

He did not speak other than to enter his plea.
