PASADENA – La Canada’s football team came into Thursday game against Maranatha averaging 42 points and allowing just 10 per outing.

After jumping to a 21-7 halftime lead, La Canada’s offense, led by its star running back Dash Paper, powered the Spartans to a 42-13 win over the Minutemen.

It was the fifth straight blowout for the undefeated Spartans (5-0)

Paper has become a breakout star this season, finishing with a season-high 189 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. It’s the third consecutive game he’s rushed for over 140 yards with multiple touchdowns.

“A big part of it is having such a great group of guys in front of me,” Paper said. “Having a great offensive line gives me a lot of confidence. Having a great quarterback (Joe Bell), him and I build off each other’s energy.”
