The Senate on Thursday declared Charlie Kirk 's birthday as the "National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk."
The resolution cited Kirk's advocacy for free speech and faith, as well as him being a champion for individual liberty.
The resolution said Kirk "consistently promoted the values of individual liberty, open debate, the importance of civic engagement, and the defense of constitutional principles."
The designation applies to Oct. 14, which would have been Kirk's 32nd birthday.
Kirk, a conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, was assassinated last week while speaking to college students at Utah Valley University. Kirk’s funeral will take place Sunday, Sept. 21 , at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance
