A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two shootings in Newton Heath .

In one incident, an innocent couple and their young son escaped serious injury when what appeared to be a shot was fired through the window of their home on Ainthorpe Walk in Newton Heath at around 9.55pm on Tuesday (September 16).

One man - who police don't believe was the intended target - suffered a 'minor' injury to his head.

A dad who lives at the address has told the M.E.N. he was left bleeding and injured by a shard of glass after hearing a 'bang' and a 'smash.' He said he had 'no idea' why his family's home had been attacked and that they had been left 'shook up.'
