MUSKEGON, MI - Cindy Kowalski remembers when Fisherman’s Landing was just an unmanaged two-track.
“When I was young – that’s many years ago – this was all woods, two-tracks,” Kowalski said, pointing to the campground at Fisherman’s Landing in Muskegon.
She pulls her golf cart up to the gate, scans herself in, and the black, barred gate automatically slides open. Inside is the 109-site campground, half-full with campers on a September day, nearing the end of the season.
Kowalski is a seasonal camper, meaning she lives at the campground from April 15 to Oct. 15. Otherwise, she resides in Dalton Township and owns a home in Muskegon.
“I don’t go home,” she said. “I stay here all summer long and work in Norton Shores.”
