Williams apparently tore both rotator cuffs during one hockey game. It didn’t happen during his minor hockey days in Weyburn, while playing junior with the Swift Current Broncos or in the 15 NHL seasons he spent setting league records for penalty minutes with five teams, primarily the Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks , before retiring in 1988.
