Autumn is well and truly here, and as the first touch of cold begins to grasp Britain, many of us will be looking at the thermostat and boosting the heating in our houses.

While shutting the windows and doors and cranking the heating up can sound appealing, this could actually cause the indoor air quality of your home to deteriorate.

John Durant, a professor at Tufts University, previously explained how pollutants such as allergens, dust and mold can be released when the heating is popped on.

This then entwines with other chemicals in your home, such as cleaning and cooking products to cause irritation if your home is not well ventilated.
