Adult entertainment brings to mind scantily clad dancers on a pole. But in Vancouver fun activities for grown-ups are taking a more wholesome turn as book clubs, paint nights, trivia and now pinball have popped up in 21-and-over spots around town.

Silver Ball Social Club, a pinball paradise combined with a chic cocktail bar , sprung from a longtime dream of Todd Engblom-Stryker’s. When he was a student at Western Washington University in Bellingham, a pinball game in the basement of one of the school’s buildings provided hours of entertainment for him and a friend. A few years ago, his wife Jessy Engblom-Stryker bought him his first pinball machines. (Disclaimer: I’m friends with her but didn’t talk to her about this business.)
