THE STAR WARS director is set to open a new museum next year - and it looks like it is straight out of one of his films.

George Lucas, known for creating the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises, is turning to art history as he prepares to open a new attraction with film artefacts and art, in Los Angeles , America.

Known as the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, the futuristic-looking museum will open in 2026, with construction having started back in 2018.

Created by George Lucas himself and his wife, Mellody Hobson, the museum will feature complete archives of Lucas' films.

There will also be an extensive collection of items belonging to Lucas on show.

Inside, a total of 37,000 art objects will be spread across five floors, all documenting the history of African-American cinema.
