The Chase's Anne Hegerty has hit back after she faced backlash for comments she made following the death of political activist, Charlie Kirk.

Anne slammed "idiotic" critics who lashed out at the quiz whiz when she voiced her opinion on the shooting of the American at a university in Utah.

Mr Kirk was killed while talking in the state, with 22-year-old, Tyler Robinson, now facing seven charges regarding the assassination of the 31-year-old.

Individuals originally hit out at Anne for her opinion on the death of Mr Kirk, with some calling her post "stupid and misinformed."

Following the comments, Anne did not back down, instead emphasising where she stood on the matter of the suspect
