You’re among the occupations the IRS is proposing should be eligible to receive up to $25,000 of tips tax-free.
More than 70 occupations would qualify for the tax break under the new proposal by federal regulators. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) allowed for the deduction, and now the IRS is working out the details.
The proposed list includes obvious occupations such as restaurant servers, bartenders, hair stylists and taxi drivers.
But there are some more niche occupations — including clowns and street performers — that also qualify.
On the list are club dancers, plumbers, lawn care workers, golf caddies, babysitters, rickshaw drivers and water taxi drivers.
